Message from the President: March 16, 2008

With this report, FACT is entering its 10th year!

In 1998, the area of alternative and complementary healthcare was just an emergent trend. Now, it is firmly established as part of our social environment. As a small non-profit organisation, we have managed to inspire a significant following in many disparate sectors, and particularly in sectors which have traditionally been suspicious of one another. We have also managed to survive, witnessing the coming and going of much bigger initiatives in this area.

FACT is in the midst of an important transition. With the strong support of several individuals, we have been able to retain some dedicated part-time staff, who will become the driving force behind all future FACT activities. I call upon all our members to tender them your staunch support.

Over the past year, we have started two alternating monthly lectures series: Collecting Wisdom and Living Well. We had another very successful Images of Healing film night, and a wonderful Ayurvedic Flavours of Harmony banquet.

While we will continue running events such as these, this year we have transformed our website to enable us to create a virtual community. We welcome you all to check in and participate.

Special message from the President: June 14, 2008

Dear friends of FACT,

Over the past 10 years, I have had the privilege and pleasure of being your President. Much has been accomplished by FACT, but much more remains to be done. We are fortunate to have an influx of new blood – both staff and directors.

At a retreat in June, the Board accepted my resignation, and started the exciting task of formulating the plan for the next 10 years. I truly appreciate Mr. Bob Dunn, who has stepped forward to assume the temporary position of Acting President.

I look back fondly on the last 10 years with FACT, particularly the time spent with all of you who have shared my vision, and joined us on various parts of the journey. I am currently redirecting my focus to other priorities in my life. I am still committed to contributing as much as I can to the further development of FACT, even though it will not be in a leadership role.

I urge all of you to continue your support and make FACT truly an organisation of your own. As well, watch for the upcoming announcement of our Flavours of Harmony banquet, a special celebration of our tenth anniversary! I hope to see you there!
